About

Hello! Welcome to my teaching portfolio! My name is Katie Cahill. I am a new teacher with a preliminary teaching license from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. I am originally from a small town in Connecticut where I grew up with my mom, dad, older brother, Tee and older sister, Christi, as well as my English Springer Spaniel, Jetty and my cats Tigerlilly and Beauty. I went to boarding school in western Massachusetts at a small school named Berkshire. There I was captain of the varsity women’s soccer and lacrosse teams, as played hockey in the winter for fun. I played one year of NCAA Women’s Lacrosse at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida before transferring to Northeastern to earn my bachelors degree in Psychology and Elementary Education.

I now live in Boston with my best friend and my kitten, Tuck. I love sports, animals, and teaching. I first knew I wanted to be a teacher in second grade, when I had a teacher who did not help me and instead stood aside as I fell behind. That teacher has haunted me every since. Through this, I developed a passion and drive to teach and be the difference in your child’s early academic career.

My particular style of teaching is based on three things: setting high expectations for EVERY student, showing respect for all students and expecting respect in return, and last, but certainly not least, parental involvement. It is my belief that when parents and teachers work together a student can accomplish anything.
