Letter to Parents

Welcome!

Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s),

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child this year. My name is Katie Cahill, and I am thrilled to have your child in my second grade class. I am originally from Connecticut and received my preliminary teaching license from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. I love sports, animals, and teaching. I first knew I wanted to be a teacher in second grade, when I had a teacher who did not help me and instead stood aside as I fell behind. That teacher has haunted me every since. Through this, I developed a passion and drive to teach and be the difference in your child’s early academic career.

I have many fun and hands on projects planned in order to help your child understand the lessons and be as successful as possible. I know we will have a successful, productive year, and I look forward to being a part of the progress your child will make.

My particular style of teaching is based on three things: setting high expectations for EVERY student, showing respect for all students and expecting respect in return, and last, but certainly not least, parental involvement. It is my belief that when parents and teachers work together a student can accomplish anything.

It is my hope to talk with the parents and/or guardians of all my students.  I plan to contact you personally in the next week.  Also, let me extend an invitation to contact me at: (203) 300-3158 or email: Cahill.ka89@gmail.com should you be concerned or curious about your child’s progress in my class.  If you would like to meet in person, we can schedule a one-on-one meeting as well.  Please don’t feel that you need to wait for me to contact you should you wish to talk.

To help me serve your child better, I would be grateful if you could take five minutes out of your busy day and complete the parent survey.  Please have your child return it to me as a homework assignment the next day.  Feel free to use the back of the page if you need extra space.

Again, I look forward to a successful year working with you and your child.

Respectfully,

Ms. Cahill
